“Color Doppler flow studies have shown differences in arterial flow between the active (dominant) and inactive (nondominant) ovaries. A steady high-resistance pattern of ovarian arterial flow has been demonstrated in the nondominant ovary (8,9). In comparison, the dominant ovary develops a low-resistance arterial pattern with its nadir in the early luteal phase, implying an increase in blood flow to that ovary that is greatest just after ovulation, during the time of corpus luteum formation (Fig 2) (8,9). “
